Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — Firefighters battle a grass fire near the Storm Lake golf course.

Shortly before 6:30 Wednesday evening, Storm Lake Fire Department was called out to the grass fire near a grove of trees south of Storm Lake Golf. Upon arrival, approximately one acre of grass was observed on fire, west of 120th Avenue.
Firefighters extinguished several fires within the area. The Alta Fire Department was called to assist, as some fires had spread across a field, due to high winds. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire was believed to be a controlled burn by the city of Lakeside, at their brush pile, which spread out of control. Fire crews were on scene for about an hour.

Storm Lake Police assisted with the efforts.
