Stabbing & Accident Investigation Underway

Sioux Rapids, IA (KICD)–Investigation into a stabbing in Sioux Rapids and subsequent accident south of Spencer is ongoing.

It is alleged by the Buena Vista County Sheriff that 19-year-old Chayton Quail of Spencer was stabbed following an altercation in Sioux Rapids last night. Spencer Police and Clay County Deputies were called out to an accident on Highway 71 south of Spencer at 7:48 a.m. where they found Quail suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was flown to Sioux Falls for surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.

The suspect, 43-year-old Pedro Orozco, was later located by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and charged with a class C felony count of Willful Injury.

Interviews with witnesses and a search of the crime scene are underway as the investigation continues.
