Spencer Crossword Winner

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A man who recently returned back home to Spencer scratched his way to a $30,000 prize playing the Iowa Lottery’s Crossword instant-scratch game.
Justin Coates originally thought he had a $5 ticket.

Coates, who works at General Machine Works, said his lottery winnings will be used to pay off debt and start a new life in Spencer. Coates grew up in Spencer, but spent the last 20 years living in Rochester, Minnesota.  He moved back to Spencer about a year ago.
Coates bought his winning ticket at the North Dyno’s in Spencer .  He claimed his prize Friday at the lottery s regional office in Storm Lake.
