Spencer Accident

Spencer Accident

Spencer, IA (KICD)–Two from Spencer were taken to the hospital following a Saturday afternoon accident.
Spencer Police say 64-year-old Patricia Axel was heading north in the 100 block of 4th Avenue East shortly after 2:00 p.m. in a 2004 Chevy Malibu approaching 2nd Street.  Axel saw a westbound 1999 Ford F-150 driven 58-year-old Jack Campbell run the stop sign and attempted to avoid a collision but was unable.
Axel’s wheels were still turned to the left and the impact propelled her into the front yard of a residence, while Campbell landed in the front yard of another home.  Campbell could not remember the crash or any of the incidents that took place prior.  He has had prior brain surgery but has not had issues for some time.
Both drivers were taken to Spencer Hospital by Spencer Ambulance with non incapacitating injuries.  Campbell was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign.
