South Spencer Housing Development

Spencer, IA (KICD)–The city of Spencer is working with Community Housing Initiatives on a housing project on the south end of town.

City Manager Bob Fagen tells KICD News that CHI has submitted an application to the state to help with income based, not subsidized housing.

Fagen expects the rent to range from $500-$750 if the project is approved.

While still in the early stages, Fagen foresees the possibility of 70-90 single family homes down the line. This property is located to the east of Menards and just south of the Americinn and was purchased by the city after the Holiday Inn Express developers purchased the land land and then resold 45 acres back to the city at their cost.
