Property Taxes Due

Spencer, IA–Clay County Treasurer, Sande Geidl, would like to remind property owners that the first installment of property taxes is due Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

You may pay in our office at 300 West 4th St, Spencer, IA., between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Property tax information may be obtained online at www.iowatreasurers.org or by calling the Treasurer’s Office at 712-262-2179. To avoid penalty on the first installment, payment must be received in the Treasurer’s Office or postmarked by Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

Payments may also be posted online by E-check for less than the cost of a postage stamp! Just $0.40 per transaction at www.iowatreasurers.org. Credit card payments are also accepted online. There is a non-refundable Service Delivery Fee to pay by credit card. When paying online by credit card, you will have the opportunity to review the total charge and exit the system prior to completing the transaction.

For your convenience we accept Visa, MasterCard, & Discover credit/debit cards, also in our office for payments on your taxes and motor vehicle registration. There will be a $2.00 fee for using a debit card. The credit card companies set the fees charged for using their credit cards. It is the same fee as charged on the internet payment system.

All citizens of Clay County are invited to visit the website at www.iowatreasurers.org. This site allows you to do business with your County Treasurer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
