O’Brien County Accident

Sheldon, IA (KICD) — A Sheldon teen is cited after a single vehicle accident.

The O’Brien County Sheriffs Office said early Saturday morning, 17-year old Jaime Gomez De La Rosas was driving a 2005 Ford Focus south on Nettles Avenue, when he lost control going onto the shoulder. De La Rosas over corrected, then slid across the road, going airborne as the Ford entered the ditch, then hitting a fence, trees and shrubs.

De La Rosas received possible injuries in the accident, while the Focus had $6000 in damage and was totalled. Damage to the fence, trees and shrubs was estimated at $250. Upon investigation, De La Rosas was cited for no valid drivers license, failure to maintain control, and no liability insurance.

The owner of the vehicle, was also cited for allowing an unauthorized minor to drive a motor vehicle.
