New Spirit Lake City Manager

New Spirit Lake City Manager

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–Spirit Lake city administrator Mark Stevens has notified the city council he’s retiring in April.  In one fell swoop the council met in special session Tuesday to accept Stevens’ resignation, and offer the job to assistant city attorney Greg Owens.

Owens will work with Stevens over the next two months as he wraps up loose ends at his law office, then will become a combined city administrator and city attorney.

Owens’ first major job will be a new city hall project in Spirit Lake, then he says his priority will be keeping a lid on spending and property taxes.

Greg Owens not only has a background in law, but in economics.  Mark Stevens was city administrator in Spirit Lake seven years and will become a consultant in retirement.
