Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)–A Heron Lake man has been flown to Sioux Falls for injuries suffered in a Wednesday afternoon accident.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old David Hofman was heading south on county road N-14 near the intersection with 210th Street when he lost control on snow covered roads. Hofman slid sideways and the side of his car struck a northbound semi tractor/trailer driven by Elliot Evans of Wanda, Minnesota.

Hofman was initially taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare with incapacitating injuries and then transferred to Avera McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls. Hofman was cited for failure to maintain control.

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Spencer man wanted on six warrants was taken into custody on Monday.

Clay County Deputies and Spencer Police received information that 26-year-old Kevin Vail was hiding from Law Enforcement but had been seen in his apartment. Upon arriving at Vail’s residence, Deputies identified Vail through a window, entered the residence, and took Vail into custody. Vail was found to have multiple controlled substances on his person at the time of arrest.

New charges filed include possession of meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was originally wanted for failure to appear domestic abuse assault and obstructing emergency communications.
