Laurens-Marathon Superintendent

Laurens, IA (KICD) — The Laurens-Marathon School district has hired a superintendent.

At this weeks school board meeting, the decision was made to hire on Jeff Kruse, who currently serves as superintendent at Southern Cal and Rockwell City-Lytton. Kruse spoke with KICD News and shared how his time will be divided…

As with any education position, there are hurdles, and Kruse tells what he’s looking to encounter with the start of the new position…

It was said the Laurens-Marathon school district will be facing a $200,000 budget shortfall at the end of this school year, but by sharing the superintendent position, the district will save $72,247, in addition to receiving $50,000 from the state. Kruse starts his new position on July 1st. Tom Nugent has been the district’s interim superintendent.
