Hillshire Fire Cause

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–A welding accident is being blamed for a March 22nd blaze that caused more than $30 million at the Hillshire Brands turkey plant in Storm Lake.

The¬†blaze started in the plant s dark meat room following a welding operation.¬† A 50 by 50 foot section of the plant’s roof collapsed while the rest of the facility sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

Hillshire has been using employees in the clean up efforts.
