Fatal Accident Under Investigation

Emmetsburg, IA (KICD)–Emmetsburg Police are investigating a fatal accident that took place early Friday morning.

Police were called out to the Lakeside Lutheran Home shortly before 8:00 a.m.  It was found that 19-year-old Allen Goodrum of Amery, Wisconsin was heading north on North Madison Street on a 1993 Suzuki GSX motorcycle sometime between 1:30 and 2:30 Friday morning.  He traveled through a cul-de-sac, went off road, and collided with a chain link fence.  North Madison Street is a dead end street serviced by the cul-de-sac.

Goodrum was pronounced dead on scene by the Palo Alto County Medical Examiner.

Investigation into the accident continues as authorities await the results of autopsy and toxicology exams.

The Iowa State Patrol, Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and Ambulance assisted on scene.
