Emmetsburg, IA (KICD)–A Ruthven man was taken to the hospital following an early Sunday morning accident.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Gage Peterbaugh was heading west on Highway 18 at 4:43 a.m. His car collided with a semi driven by Scott Rouse of Terril who was coming in the opposite direction. Peterbaugh drifted into the eastbound lane and onto the shoulder before correcting back into the westbound lane. Rouse tried to avoid the collision by steering into the westbound lane.

Peterbaugh was taken by ambulance to the hospital with what are believed to be minor and non-incapacitating injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

Cleghorn, IA (KICD) — A Schaller man was injured in a single vehicle accident.

The Cherokee County Sheriffs Office said the accident happened northeast of Schaller Saturday morning. Jeffrey Voss was driving an SUV east on C-16 near K Avenue. Voss said he then fell asleep, and the vehicle went into the north ditch, striking a field entrance, and rolled over.

Voss was extricated from the vehicle, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Ruthven, IA (KICD)–Drug charges have been filed following a Sunday morning traffic stop by the Palo Alto County Sheriff.

After detecting an odor of pot and further investigation, 18-year-old Kelvin Higgins of Spencer was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake man is arrested after a reckless driver report.

On Sunday afternoon, Storm Lake Police took a report of a reckless driver. Upon arrival, Police saw and stopped the suspect vehicle, and talked with the driver, Andonia Smith. It’s alleged he was intoxicated and had passed out as the vehicle was running. He resisted arrest but was subdued.

He was charged with OWI, Interference With Official Acts, and Open Container.


Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake teen is charged and another is arrested after a threat is made.

On Saturday evening, Storm Lake Police responded to a report of a threat being made at the Burger King. Upon arrival, officers were told by staff that a 17-year old male came in and attempted to start a fight with an empoloyee, and then said he would be back at 1-am and cause additional problems, and then left.

Police then saw the 17-year old in a vehicle that drove into the parking lot. He was then arrested. Another occupant in the vehicle, Khue Xiong of Storm Lake had marijuana on him, and he was taken into custody.

The 17-year old was charged with Harrassment and Disorderly Conduct, and was processed and released pending a court date. Xiong was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana 2nd offense, and was booked into jail.


Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — Two were arrested after a report of unlicensed solicitors.

On Saturday afternoon, Storm Lake Police went to a residence on the report of unlicensed solicitors going door to door, and acting in a suspicious manner. Police then stopped a vehicle, and the driver, Dick Duo of Des Moines, who was allegedly soliciting for Kirby Vacuum without the appropriate license.

He was charged with Soliciting Without a License. A passenger in the vehicle, Adrian Gully of Waukee, was wanted by Storm Lake Police on a warrant for Theft in the 3rd degree. Gully was booked into jail, while Duo ws cited and released.
