Estherville, IA (KICD)–A former Dickinson County Attorney and former chairman of the Iowa Parole Board was recently arrested on a charge of O.W.I. 1st offense.

Jason Carlstrom of West Des Moines was arrested by the Estherville Police Department around 12:45 a.m. on March 21st in the 800 block of 1st Avenue South. The 44-year-old Carlstrom was later released without bond.

Assistant Clay County Attorney Kristi Kuestor has been appointed special prosecutor in the case.

Emmet County Attorney Doug Hanson asked for the court to appoint a special prosecutor because he had previous disagreements with Carlstrom while Carlstrom was Dickinson County Attorney regarding the two counties’ shared domestic violence program and prosecutor.

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Friday morning traffic stop lead to drug charges against a Spencer man.

23-year-old Tanner Wallace was pulled over by Spencer Police for failure to obey a traffic control device. After investigation he was charged with OWI 2nd Offense, possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substance Vyvanse and drug paraphernalia.

Sheldon, IA (KICD)–A Friday morning accident landed an Ashton man in the hospital.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Damond Peters became distracted while heading south on Oak Hill Avenue shortly after 9:30. Peters crossed the centerline and overcorrected into a skid which caused the Monte Carlo to enter the ditch and spin around onto its roof.

Peters was taken to the Sheldon Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)–Two teens from Denison face theft charges.

Storm Lake Police were called to Wal-Mart Saturday evening. They encountered 16-year-old Ismael Bravo and 17-year-old Efrain Pena and confiscated nine video games, two Play Station controllers along with a theft detection removal device.

A search of their car turned up six video games reportedly stolen from Wal-Mart in Omaha, a wrist watch stolen from a JC Penny’s in Carroll and two additional video games stolen from the Storm Lake Wal-Mart earlier this month.

Pena was charged with 4th and 5th Degree Theft, Removal of a Theft Detection Device, Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, Possession of a Theft Detection Removal Device, and Removal of a theft Detection Device.

Bravo was charged with 4th Degree Theft and Removal of a theft Detection Device.

Additional arrests are anticipated.

Spencer, IA (KICD)–A Minnesota woman injured in a two vehicle accident at the North Y on Friday afternoon has been identified.

43-year-old Melissa Meester of Ellsworth struck a hauling truck in the collision.

Meester was taken to the Spencer Hospital with minor injuries. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has charged her with failure to maintain control.
