PARIS, Tex. (AP) — The road that runs just a few hundred yards past where Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys was born is now named after him.

A bridge was also renamed for Allen during a ceremony near Paris, Texas, last week.

Allen says he used to ride his bike over that bridge to get to school, and having that named for him is better than if the Golden Gate Bridge had been renamed for him.

Just to show he still cares about the community, Allen requested that the new road signs be put up in conjunction with the existing ones, so residents don’t have to change their address.
