A look at some of this week’s recalled products and consumer news.

Nine children have broken their legs, prompting swing recall

Oodle Swings, made by Landscape Structures, is recalling the backyard play system after multiple reports of children getting their legs caught under the swings, resulting in injuries.

At least nine children have suffered a broken leg while playing on the swingset, which was sold primarily to schools and facilities with playgrounds. The swing seat can hold up to six children at once.

Yankee Candle recalls candle ring set due to fire hazard

More than 15,000 Yankee Candle candle ring sets are being recalled because they contain flammable material. The Pine Berry candle ring is a decorative ring that goes around the bottom of the candle. It contains synthetic pine cones and greenery, which can ignite.

Consumers should stop using the candle ring immediately and the Yankee Candle Company for a full refund.

Children’s utensils recalled due to choking hazard

Cubetensils is recalling more than 1,000 sets of its children’s utensils. The company says the handles can separate, posing a choking hazard.

The sets retailed for about $8 and were sold through major national retailers and online through Amazon. Consumers should stop using them and contact the manufacturer for a full refund.

Feds expand probe into Mercedes tail light problem

U.S. safety regulators have expanded an investigation into rear light failures in Mercedes-Benz C-Class luxury vehicles.

The probe now covers nearly 253,000 cars from the 2008 through 2011 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the stop, tail and turn signal lights can fail because of a melted electrical connector. The agency and Mercedes have received 402 complaints, including five fires and one injury.

The safety agency has upgraded the probe to an engineering analysis. That’s a step closer to a recall, but so far no recall has been issued.
